Needless to say, I've had a change of perspective since those days. Plus, I intend for this to segue into discussions about the games themselves. But I felt that this is the best way of reaching anybody that I might have offended before. I'm not even sure if this is the proper venue for my confessional and apologies, and if any moderator wants to come in and delete it or move it somewhere else, I understand. For anybody that had to deal with me back then - in my incarnations as Lord Stevil the Parakeet Shaman, The Predaphile, and I Hate All Life - I apologize for being a jerk. I sincerely feel awful about how I behaved. I've been reflecting on this lately, in light of the recent conversations about gatekeepers and other toxic behaviors in our hobby. (All the while hypocritically churning out spider-Disciplines and new Changing Breeds and other poorly considered fan crap.) I ran some people out of those communities, and possibly out of the hobby. And I argued thus endlessly with people on Usenet, the old White Wolf boards, and Shadownessence. No room for Blade Meets Underworld or silly crossover romps, no sir and no ma'am. To me, there were certain themes and play styles one should respect if one were to run a proper game, and if you didn't do it that way, you probably should be playing something else. I didn't see it that way at the time, of course. However, back in the swing of my WoD fandom, I was one of those gatekeeper trolls that you hear about. However, those issues have recently been addressed to my satisfaction, and I like the direction in which the new team is headed, so the WoD is back on the menu! I'm happy to say that I want to run and play games in that universe again. Because I liked the WoD so much for so long. Not to get all that drama stirred back up, but I wasn't fond of things the former V5 development team did, they hurt people I liked and respected, and I felt certain people they supported were toxic. I fell out of WoD fandom during the 20th Anniversary Era, and pushed back against WW in a hard way when Vampire 5E was announced. I thought the "new" World of Darkness (now Chronicles of Darkness) and the 20th Anniversary editions did some cool things, and I even did some conversions. Publishers use these marks when books are returned to them. So, I had liked the oWoD games (Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Apocalypse, Demon: the Fallen, etc) for quite a long time.
